8.50 - 9.00 - Welcome

The children will arrive between 8.50 and 9.00 am. They will be greeted by a member of staff, they will be asked to find their own name card and post it in our registration box. Any children bringing their lunch with them will be asked to place their lunch boxes on the storage rack provided. Other members of staff will be available to help the children choose which activity they wish to play with. Parents will be encouraged to bring their children into the setting and to stay for a short while if they wish.

9.15 - 10.30 - Activities

The children will move around the playroom freely, members of staff will be on hand to play with the children, or to read them a story. During this time the children will be asked to participate in a more structured activity (covering one of the 6 learning areas) with their key worker. Many of these activities will be planned for outside in order that children gain the benefit of learning in the outdoor environment. However, the doors to the outside area are open for most of the session to enable children to take any learning they do inside into the outdoor area, and gain the experience of all forms of weather. Children are able to access resources by themselves or are encouraged to ask for anything they are particularly interested in.

10.15 - 10.25 - Tidy-up time

Children and adults will tidy up together.

10.25 - 10.40 - Come Together Time

The children and adults will come together on the carpet to talk about what they have been doing in the morning. We will look at the weather and discuss with the children what they want to play with at the next session. Come together time is split into age groups so the subjects being talked about are age appropriate.

10.40 - Story time

The children and staff will sit in groups for story time.

10.45 - Washing Hands

The children will be taken to the toilet and to wash their hands.

10.45 - 11.00 - Snack time

There is a snack menu on display in the foyer and in the kitchen.

This will sometimes be in key person groups or as "rolling snack", where the children are free to come to the snack table during the morning and have their snack without interrupting their play. The children are encouraged to chat about what they have been doing during the session, or about family and home life. If the children have their snack in a circle they will play a circle game, for example pass the smile. Or the children will play a musical instrument game.

Snack will be of a healthy and nutritious nature reflecting different cultures. Children will be given the opportunity to contribute to the planning and preparation of snacks. The children then have a drink, which they are encouraged to pour for themselves. The drink will be juice, water or milk. One child will then be chosen to collect the cups.

11.00 - 11.15 - Outside / physical play and Singing Time

Children who are going home at lunch time will be taken out side with members of staff to play. They will have the opportunity to play with a range of outdoor equipment including bikes, balls, hoops, balancing beams and bean bags.

If the weather is very bad the children will stay inside and play circle games, or participate in music/movement. Or we will use large indoor equipment such as soft play.

Children who are staying for lunch or the whole day will go into the Quiet Room for Singing Time. The children will often choose the songs they wish to sing.

11.15 - 11.30 Switch Over Time

Children who are staying for lunch will go out to play and the children going home will come in for singing time.

11.30 - Home time

The children are given any work they may have completed, any letters that need to go home. They will remain sitting until their parent/carer comes into the setting to collect them.
