How parents take part in the setting

Here at Butterfly Nursery we recognise parents as the first and most important educators of their children. All of our staff see themselves as partners with you in providing care and education for your child. We will always keep you informed of your child’s progress. Each child will have an individual Learning Journey which will be a record of their experiences at the Nursery. Parents are able to look through their child’s Learning Journey at any time simply by asking their respective key person. There are many ways in which parents can take part in making the setting a welcoming and stimulating place for children and parents, such as:

·        exchanging knowledge about their children's needs, activities, interests and progress with the staff;

·         helping at sessions of the setting;

·        sharing their own special interests with the children;

·         helping to provide, make and look after the equipment and materials used in the children's play activities;

·         becoming a member of the P.T.A.

·        taking part in events and informal discussions about the activities and curriculum provided by the setting;

·         joining in community activities in which the setting takes part; and

·         building friendships with other parents in the setting.

P.T.A.

One of the ways parents can become involved with the Nursery is to join our thriving P.T.A   This is a way to enable parents and staff to come together on a regular but informal basis to share ideas and skills to enhance the experience of their children at the Nursery.   The PTA is also involved in a few fundraising activities to fund such things as School Trips and Christmas presents. Joining the PTA is an entirely voluntary decision on behalf of the parents and staff, but those parents/carers and staff who are involved enjoy a successful and fun partnership that hopefully benefits everyone.
